I think I remember reading something about this in Literature class back in college. Something related to Buddhist teachings. The spokes of a wheel are just as important as the empty space in a cup. Only when empty are these things useful.
In this case the cup gets discarded. It can be made as a paperweight, but that is not what cups are made for, anyway. I’ll have to be a little less full of myself if I want to be used for my intended purpose. But what is my intended purpose anyway?
Now that is a riddle for the ages.
