The Conquered Peaks

The Conquered Peaks

A flower blooms upon its vase

Upright, admired, and yet alone

A sole reminder of those days

When mountains, lush with summer green

Puffed out their giant chests at those

Who cowered in their looming shade
The blooms had lined their craggy crests

Like crowns upon their ancient heads

Now all the mountains disappeared

And towers reach into the clouds

Where could I find another peak

To marvel at like former times?
