Worn Out

Worn Out

Just like a pair of ancient shoes

I’ve walked a thousand miles of lives

A soldier’s boots that march to war

A maiden’s sandals on the grass

A slew of other journeys passing by

Worn out and tired knees and feet

Tremble as they rest at last

My shoes have carried me so far

Alas, though times with them were sweet

The old and worn are thrown away

To rot and die like all the rest

That was once was young and hopeful, yes

But cursed, like us, to be replaced
